In the 22nd century, a robot child undertakes a Pinocchio-like quest to become a real boy, and win back the love of the mother who rejected him. An adaptation of a story by Brian Aldiss, originally developed by Stanley Kubrick, it takes some dark turns (The Flesh Fair!) and unpacks with an extremely gripping denouement.

Young Atari, aged 12, steals a plane and travels to the island to look for his faithful companion, Spots. Amores Perros begins with a major traffic accident and from there tells the stories of the boys who cause the accident, the woman who has the misfortune to be hit and about a third person, an outsider who sees the accident happen.

Amores Perros is a film about social climbers, about socially successful people bringing about their own demise and about a drifter who has lived long enough to regret a past mistake. Their dogs are the connecting link between the characters. They are the silent witnesses to the behavior of their owners, none of whom seem made for happiness and, in terms of love and social contacts, excel mainly in adultery and deceit.
