Simone, a cop with conservative ideas, has infiltrated a feminist collective, the “Hardies”. She investigates the activists on suspicion of complicity in the murder of a violent husband. Through their contact, Simone gradually opens up to feminist ideas. But her cover is thin. And the “Hardies”, guessing that there's a mole in their midst, begin to suspect her. To deflect attention and get out of this predicament, Simone can think of nothing better than to accuse a random man of having sexually assaulted her. But Paul, the man she's accusing, a failed actor who lives in his wife's shadow, is the sweetest, most harmless of men. Simone, devastated by what she has done, tries to make amends, but it's too late: the accusation becomes public and Paul a target of the collective.
