It's time once again for the 25th edition of Pink Screens – Brussels Queer Film Festival!

Pink Screens

Mineshaft: The Cruising Murders

Karyn Kusama’s Jennifer’s Body is a clever and darkly comedic horror film that subverts the genre’s conventions with a smart and feminist twist. Written by Diablo Cody and starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, the film tells the story of a high school cheerleader who becomes possessed by a demon and begins to prey on her male classmates.

With its sharp wit and biting social commentary, Jennifer’s Body is a refreshing take on the horror genre, challenging the objectification of women in popular culture while simultaneously celebrating female friendship and empowerment. Kusama’s direction is stylish and assured, with a keen eye for capturing the oppressive and suffocating atmosphere of small-town life.

The film’s standout performances, particularly from Fox as the titular Jennifer, elevate the material beyond its horror trappings, creating a complex and nuanced portrait of a young woman grappling with the pressures of adolescence and the expectations placed upon her by society. Jennifer’s Body is a genre-defying gem, a horror film that is as thought-provoking as it is terrifying, and a testament to the power of women to take control of their own narratives.

Jennifer’s Body

Thomas, an elderly man living in a care home, is convinced that he and his neighbor, Alfred Kant, were switched at birth. Nursing his bitterness, he has but one obsession: to reclaim the life that was stolen from him—at any cost.

Toto le héros
