The Wind That Shakes The Barley

In 1920's Ireland, the Irish War of Independence is in full swing. The Irish rebels and the British army are fighting a brutal battle marked by violence and harshness on both sides of the conflict. Doctor and socialite Damien O'Donovan is about to continue his career in a London hospital. When he witnesses the intimidation tactics of the British army up close, he returns to join the local IRA brigade, led by his brother Teddy. Damien increasingly adopts the merciless practices of civil war, while Teddy seems to become milder by the suffering that surrounds him. When the British Empire and the Irish Republic sign the Anglo-Irish Treaty in 1921, the brothers find themselves diametrically opposed.
