For the past 16 years, the AlimenTERRE Belgium international film festival has been raising public awareness of the challenges facing peasant agriculture, and introducing people to ways of working towards fairer, more sustainable agricultural and food systems.

Screenings, debates, workshops and many other activities are organized in the presence of specialists from the world of agriculture, film-makers, peasant leaders from the South and bearers of concrete, local initiatives.

Al 16 jaar lang sensibiliseert het internationale filmfestival AlimenTERRE Belgium mensen voor de problematiek van kleinschalige landbouw en toont ze hoe ze actie kunnen ondernemen voor een eerlijkere en duurzamere landbouw en voedselsystemen.

Vertoningen, debatten, workshops en een brede waaier aan evenementen worden georganiseerd in aanwezigheid van specialisten uit de landbouwwereld, filmmakers, boerenleiders uit het Zuiden en mensen die betrokken zijn bij concrete lokale initiatieven.

Festival Alimenterre

Depuis 16 ans, le festival international de films AlimenTERRE Belgique sensibilise les citoyen·ne·s aux enjeux de l’agriculture paysanne et leur fait connaître les pistes d’actions vers des systèmes agricoles et alimentaires plus justes et plus durables.

Des projections, des rencontres-débats, des ateliers et de nombreuses animations sont organisés avec la présence de spécialistes du monde agricole, de réalisateur·rice·s, de leader·euse·s paysan·ne·s du Sud et de porteur·euse·s d’initiatives concrètes et locales.

De l'assiette à l'océan meets scientists, activists, entrepreneurs and politicians to show how fishing, factory farming, the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers and the transportation of goods are altering natural balances and threatening marine ecosystems. Of course, we don't stop there. A new narrative emerges. We show that it is possible to limit problems by making the right choices, at every level. Because, yes, we can all enjoy our food without damaging the ocean.

In the face of climate change, citizens and farmers from different sectors are joining forces to decide on fair changes to the use of their land. A scientific experiment was carried out as part of the European “Just Scapes” program for fair landscapes in the Arac valley in Ariège. This documentary tells the story.

Demain, la Vallée

In order to pay off her debts, Ariane lands a job as a French-Spanish translator in a food factory that hires mainly Guatemalan workers. The young boss, Stéphane, is a friend of her former lover and runs the place, which is run by foreign bodies motivated by profit. In the course of her employment, Ariane discovers the precarious conditions of these temporary workers and the chronic injustices that punctuate their daily lives. However, she is reluctant to come to their aid and defend their interests, convinced that this might affect her professional future in the factory. 

Dissidente (Richelieu)

Filmed over three seasons, Grasshopper Republic follows a local team of verité-style grasshopper trappers, as these modern-day prospectors head deep into remote forests in a bid to make their fortune capturing this elusive prey. We witness huge generators being hoisted onto collapsing mud banks. Light poles are erected with chemically treated bulbs, casting a neon green glow over the canopy, irresistibly luring the swarm to their corrugated iron traps.

With images from another world, these distinct universes collide in an explosion of emotion. The trappers, who have suffered injury, illness and exhaustion, finally have their moment, and relief washes over them. As for the grasshoppers, lured into a trap by an unnatural ruse, their path ends in a frying pan.

Grasshopper Republic

La dernière graine (The Last Seed) traces the issues surrounding food and agriculture in Africa in the 20th century, including seed control. What have we lost? And who can show us a better way to produce? Farmers from various African countries and experts testify to the sustainability and adaptability of their agroecological practices, and share their knowledge.

50 years in the life of a farm... Haute Savoie, 1972: the Bertrand farm, a dairy farm with around a hundred head of cattle run by three single brothers, was filmed for the first time. In 1997, director Gilles Perret made his first film about them as neighbours, just as the three farmers were in the process of handing over the farm to their nephew Patrick and his wife Hélène. Now, 25 years later, the director-neighbour takes up the camera again to accompany Hélène as she, in turn, passes on the reins. Through the words and actions of the people who have succeeded each other, the film reveals a deeply moving life story in which work and transmission play a central role: an intimate, social and economic history of our farming world.

Taken over by the Grignoux in 1982, the cinema le Parc is located on the edge of Liège, near Bressoux. It has a magnificent auditorium with over 400 seats. Its large stage and high quality sound system also make it a choice venue for concerts. The café le Parc located in the same street allows you to have a drink before or after your session.

The Churchill cinema is located in the centre of Liege, in a pedestrian area just a stone's throw from the Place Cathédrale. With its splendid Art Deco façade, it gives pride of place to auteur and independent cinema as well as to more "mainstream" productions. Two art galleries welcome painters and photographers.

Cinema Churchill is located in the centre of Liege. It shows independent cinema, classics and documentaries.

Probably the best known and most popular cinema in Liège, this complex has 4 cinemas for a total of 800 spectators and a brasserie, which serves as a place to relax, a small restaurant and also a concert hall. Located in the city centre, it is easily accessible by bus or bicycle. Three partner car parks offer a discount if you park your car there.

Probably the best known cinema in Liège, this complex also offers a place to eat and relax. Located in the city centre.
