It's time once again for the 24th edition of Pink Screens – Brussels Queer Film Festival! From 30 October to 10 November, discover more than a hundred films, documentaries and short films from all over the world.

Showing at the Nova, Aventure, Galeries and Palace cinemas, with exhibitions at the latter two venues to extend the festival experience. Even outside Brussels, you can enjoy the festival with screenings at Sphinx (Ghent), Plaza (Mons) and Sauvenière (Liège).

Verhalen die conventies doorbreken, het binaire bevragen en de trots van diversiteit vieren.

Te zien in Nova, Aventure, Galeries en Palace, met ook tentoonstellingen in de twee laatste cinema’s om het festival nog wat langer te laten nazinderen. Ook buiten Brussel kan je mee genieten, met vertoningen in Sphinx in Gent en Plaza in Bergen.

It's time once again for the 24th edition of Pink Screens – Brussels Queer Film Festival!

A pioneering figure in queer body art, and founder of the controversial “Modern Primitive” movement, Fakir Musafar has redefined the physical boundaries of the body. His work spans photography, the underground scene, the Church of Satan, and flower power. Behind the guise of a classic documentary, director Angelo Madsen painstakingly reconstructs the archives, which intertwine and reinvent themselves as extensions of Fakir Musafar’s performance art.

A Body to Live in

Jaya, a non-binary teacher and former comedian whose career ended after Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines, travels the country to win a drag beauty pageant and prize money. Meeting Arnel, a student searching for his father, changes their solitary plans. Blending surreal comedy with documentary realism, this genre-defying journey explores climate change, colonial legacy, and queer identity through humor, resilience, and connection.

Asog

Matias and Fabio are friends and actors, but it's Fabio who's chosen for the lead role in a TV series. Devastated, Matias finds comfort in Rafael, a mysterious 35-year-old man who refuses to reveal much about himself. They begin a passionate relationship and discover a fetish for having sex in public places.

Ato noturno

A fragile bond is formed between Jérémie and Baptiste thanks to a shared source of embarassement: their baldness. Together, they decide to go to Istanbul, a modern metropolis known for low-cost cosmetic miracles and surgical scams. Yet, at its core, Avant/Après tells the story of other losses, touching on the wandering nature of humans and the need for connection to ward off loneliness.

It goes without saying that many Asian films have the ability to explore family dynamics with almost unrivaled finesse. In this beautiful Taiwanese feature film, a mother, Shu-Yi, tries her best to keep her family together while dealing with an absent husband. Meanwhile, her eldest son becomes infatuated with a female photographer Shu-Yi knew well in her youth. This brings back memories and shatters the balance of the home she strives to preserve. With remarkable sensitivity, Julian Chou suggests that happiness lies not in conformity, but in accepting the subtle differences that make us human.

Blind Love

There’s a languid mood hanging in the summer air. Two friends are staying in a holiday home, rented from a former lover. To withstand the grip of the owner and the precarity closing in on them, the pair turn to sex work. Despite the apparent comfort of this elegant setting, the house becomes a gilded cage where time stretches endlessly. It also turns into a refuge for other marginalized people and a space for unexpected encounters.

In the second part, Flavia’s estranged father dies and she decides to move with her wife Mara from the city to the family farm. There the couple tries to make a new start, but are confronted by nature, old memories, and ghosts from the past.

To find the money, she rides her scooter through the night and into the filthy, chaotic depths of Trashtown.

Libuše Jarcovjáková documents her life through conventional photos and diary entries. Her Czechoslovakian homeland is in the repressive phase of “normalisation” after the crushing of the Prague Spring in 1968. As a result, the young photographer searches for islands of freedom in Prague, exploring her sexual identity. Always by Libuše's side, her camera acts as a discreet and faithful witness of her empowerment.  

I'm Not Everything I Want to Be

Janine, with a shy smile and dark chestnut hair, decides to leave Berlin and move to the countryside because her partner, Pierre, suffers from asthma. The couple rents a house from a woman who lives next door with her two adult sons, Enrico and Peter, the latter of whom has an intellectual disability. Janine quickly realizes that almost everything—and everyone—in the village is hostile, except for Peter, who develops a strange fascination with her and begins spying on her through the window.

Diego Céspedes takes us to the heart of a village that seems timeless and out of place, much like the novels of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The Chilean filmmaker immerses us in a community of trans women and transvestites who run a bar. They live isolated from the rest of the village, as if they were cursed, and for good reason: legend has it that if a (cis) man catches their eye, he will immediately be struck down by a mysterious and terrible disease.

Ana, divorced mother, combines her job as security agent in the Reine Sofia Museum and bringing up her child.  When her child questions his gender identity, Ana begins an inner journey which takes her back to the woman she was before becoming a mother.  La Mitad de Ana is seen more through the eyes of the mother, of the adult than of the child.  It is Ana who becomes, asserts herself, mirroring her son's identity, in transition but also in transaction with who she is.  It's this which justifies the beautiful English title: Becoming Ana

After being dumped by the partner she idolises, Saira goes on a mission, travelling across space to save her. Hopping between planets and encountering all types of situations, this misguided princess thinks she will win back her lost lover... but something else awaits her at the end of her journey.

Everyone around Karla ends up participating in the film, resulting in a lively and characterful documentary, with tones of the self-assertion of a Gen Z, just like its main protagonist.

Gui and Diára are close friends, immersed in the city’s queer nightlife, forever on the move. What emerges is a love triangle of shifting, uneven edges, forming and unraveling through scenes of dancing and embraces, where Sergio is cast alternately as prey and as threat. O Riso e a Faca

Cass (They, them) is both a nanny and a waiter in a constantly changing San Francisco. They live a precarious and lonely life until one evening they meet a colleague, Kalli, who asks them to babysit her daughter, Ari. But as the days go by with no news from Kalli, Cass and Ari form an increasingly intense bond, sharing the feeling of being rejected—Cass because of their gender identity and Ari because she is forced to be mature before her time.

Under mounting medical pressure and racing against the clock, they wrestle with doubts about what choice would truly be best for their child. Un mundo para mí may follow a fairly conventional form, but it powerfully highlights the harsh dynamics faced by intersex people and their families in societies still deeply bound to binary norms.

Taken over by the Grignoux in 1982, the cinema le Parc is located on the edge of Liège, near Bressoux. It has a magnificent auditorium with over 400 seats. Its large stage and high quality sound system also make it a choice venue for concerts. The café le Parc located in the same street allows you to have a drink before or after your session.

The Churchill cinema is located in the centre of Liege, in a pedestrian area just a stone's throw from the Place Cathédrale. With its splendid Art Deco façade, it gives pride of place to auteur and independent cinema as well as to more "mainstream" productions. Two art galleries welcome painters and photographers.

Cinema Churchill is located in the centre of Liege. It shows independent cinema, classics and documentaries.

Probably the best known and most popular cinema in Liège, this complex has 4 cinemas for a total of 800 spectators and a brasserie, which serves as a place to relax, a small restaurant and also a concert hall. Located in the city centre, it is easily accessible by bus or bicycle. Three partner car parks offer a discount if you park your car there.

Probably the best known cinema in Liège, this complex also offers a place to eat and relax. Located in the city centre.

Taken over by the Grignoux and completely renovated in 2016, the Caméo has 5 screens and a brasserie, the Caféo. Like the other Grignoux cinemas, it showcases the best recent films for young and old alike, and offers numerous event evenings (previews with directors and film crews, special evenings, conferences-debates with the associative world, etc.).
